Don Cristóbal, Billy-Club Man

 

A Lorca-inspired theater piece exploring the on- and off-stage lives of the Spanish Punch via experimental puppetry, surreal poetry, clowning and live original music. The piece was created by composer Rima Fand in collaboration with puppeteer Erin Orr and a wonderful ensemble of 15 actors/puppeteers/singers/musicians. Development began in the Puppet Lab at St. Ann's Warehouse, and continued in the HERE Artist Residency Program. Productions took place at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center in 2011, and in the Experimental Theater at the Abrons Arts Center in 2013.
